Alric Bird
SUMMER CAMP & YOUTH PROGRAM INSTRUCTOR
Alric was first introduced to climbing by his dad long before he can even remember. His ideal day includes a 60 meter rope, a really big rock, and one roll of 400 speed Ilford B&W film. Always in search of adventure and pictures, Alric finds both at the top of mountains. Unsurprisingly, his favorite place in the world (so far, since he hasn’t seen very much of it yet) is Yosemite, for its beauty and polished granite footholds. He would like to spend every evening trad leading outside, but unfortunately doesn’t live on a mountain. One day. Alric has upset his piano teacher many times by coming to his lessons with taped, scraped, and sometimes bleeding fingers, and doesn’t plan to stop.

Shona Estey-Edwards
GYM MANAGER & CLIMBING INSTRUCTOR
Climbing has been an important part of Shona’s life since she first scampered up the wall of a local crag over a decade ago. The pursuit of spending time in the vertical world has guided her to many incredible places and communities all over the globe and she is so happy to be settled back in her hometown, reconnecting with her roots and a new family of climbers. Shona loves the Gold Crush community and being part of a space that brings people together both on and off the wall. When she’s not managing the gym or teaching someone how to tie a figure 8 knot, you'll find Shona tending her garden, climbing at a local crag, or dipping in the Yuba River.
